I saw a post on Nouveau Cheap on new lippies from L'Oreal which looked like was only offered through Target. I have seen reviews that these are suppose to be comparable to Revlon's Lip Butters. But I thought the Balm was suppose to be like the lip butters? I own a few in each and I think each one is unique in their own ways and I like them all. The Target near me has them and they retail for $7.69. The funny thing is these were seen on Target's website but I have been on there almost everyday and you can't order them from their website. The Target I went to had a nice display on top and they had the lipsticks in the normal set up in the wall. There are 16 colors shown available in stores only on Target's website. At Target, I didn't see all 16 but they had many colors in the display but A LOT was gone already. Luckily for me, people didn't realize that they were also in the regular wall with the other lipsticks. So I was able to get the 2 I had my eye on since I first saw these on the website. I love the packaging by the way. Some other bloggers felt that the packaging was cheap and I could see why they would say that but I like the light Gold color and the shade indicator in the middle. I rarely can say anything negative about L'Oreal's lipsticks. To me these are perfect. Here are all the shades that Target list that are available: Cotton Pink, Feiry Veil, Pink Cashmere, Cherry Tulle, Velvety Fuchsia, Blushing Sequin, Silky Java, Rose Taffeta, Pink Plush, Cardinal Plume, Violet Chiffon, Merino Mauve, Sheer Linen, Sunset Angora, Satiny Cocoa and Pink Vinyl. The colors I got were Sheer Linen and Rose Taffeta.
Above are swatches, Sheer Linen is on the left and Rose Taffeta is on the right...in case you couldn't tell. The consistency of these lipsticks are very similar to the feel of the Balm. I love the Balm lipsticks. They feel so much nicer on my lips and they just give a hint of color with some gloss. I feel the Revlon Lip Butters are more pigmented but some shades are very gritty due to the shimmers in them. I don't think they feel the same on the lips. The Caresse Sticks do not disappoint in the creamy feel. It's definitely moisturizing and it may be just me but Rose Taffeta smells like Raspberry creamsicles which I LOVE. I wore this one all day today. I can get about 4 hours of wear and maybe longer if I had not eaten lunch. I felt the color stayed on and my lips were not dry and I didn't feel I needed to reapply. Rose Taffeta is a mauvey pink on the lips and I couldn't photograph the greatness of them on my lips today. Sheer Linen is such a soft nude color that I adore. This one didn't have any fragrance to it like Rose Taffeta did but it's not the overpowering scent like the regular L'Oreal lipsticks. Many people are turned off by that scent but these don't have that. There isn't a bad taste, I don't think. Overall, I love these (shocker!). I think I will be keeping these in my purse and wearing these everyday. I may buy backups. I wish drugstores had these but I have yet to see them. I don't mind paying $7.69 for lipsticks but I love a good deal when I can get one. And I have no idea when these will be on sale at Target.
Here is a small list of other colors I want to check out: Silky Java, Cotton Pink, Pink Cashmere, Merino Mauve, Sunset Angora and Pink Plush. I'd love to read anyone's reviews on these colors if you got them. More reason to fuel my obsession :) If I had it my way I would probably just get all 16 shades. I like these THAT much. If you read my post about the Maybelline LE Porcelain lipsticks, I had thought those were creamy and had a nice subtle color to them. These Caresse sticks are my new FAVS right now.
UPDATE: Please read my newest post of a haul in a total of 12 shades and swatches I know own. Really excited.
I enjoyed your review! I have been reading so many reviews on the new L'Oreal Caress lippies and how difficult the shades are to come by. I happened to see them at Target too; and they only had a handful available. I went with "Rose Taffeta". I would like to find more shades. I'm sure these are selling like hotcakes!
ReplyDeleteHi Bridget! Thanks for your comment. I was able to find a few more shades, some I like and some I don't care for but I hope to be posting that up pretty soon.
